Age Activated Attention Deficit Disorder

Recently, I was diagnosed with A. A. A. D. D. - Age Activated Attention Deficit Disorder.

This is how it manifests:

I decide to water my garden.

As I turn on the hose in the driveway, I look over at my car and decide my car needs washing.

As I start toward the garage, I notice that there is mail on the porch table that I brought up from the mailbox earlier.

I decide to go through the mail before I wash the car.

I lay my car keys down on the table, put the junk mail in the garbage can under the table, and notice that the can is full.

So, I decide to put the bills back on the table and take out the garbage first.

But then I think, since I'm going to be near the mailbox when I take out the garbage anyway, I may as well pay the bills first.

I take my checkbook off the table, and see that there is only one check left.

My extra checks are in my desk in the study, so I go inside the house to my desk where I find the can of Coke that I had been drinking.

I'm going to look for my checks, but first I need to push the Coke aside so that I don't accidentally knock it over. I realize the Coke is getting warm, and I decide I should put it in the refrigerator to keep it cold.

As I head toward the kitchen with the Coke, a vase of flowers on the counter catches my eye--they need to be watered.

I set the Coke down on the counter, and I discover my reading glasses that I've been searching for all morning.

I decide I better put them back on my desk, but first I'm going to water the flowers.

I set the glasses back down on the counter, fill a container with water and suddenly I spot the TV remote. Someone left it on the kitchen table.

I realize that tonight when we go to watch TV, I will be looking for the remote, but I won't remember that it's on the kitchen table! So I decide to put it back in the den where it belongs, but first I'll water the flowers.

I pour some water in the flowers, but quite a bit of it spills on the floor.

So, I set the remote back down on the table, get some towels and wipe up the spill.

Then I head down the hall trying to remember what I was planning to do.

At the end of the day:
the driveway is flooded
the car isn't washed,
the bills aren't paid,
there is a warm can of Coke sitting on the counter,
there is still only one check in my check book,
I can't find the remote,
I can't find my glasses, and I don't remember what I did with the car keys.

Then when I try to figure out why nothing got done today, I'm really baffled because I know I was busy all day long, and I'm really tired.

I realize this is a serious problem, and I'll try to get some help for it, but first I'll check my e-mail.

Do me a favor, will you? Forward this message to everyone you know, because I don't remember who I have sent it to.

Don't laugh --if this isn't you yet, your day is coming!!! I know I have been there!

Dude, this is me now.. How bad is that? Go to the kitchen to grab a drink. See something's been left out along with some trash. Put away food, but forget to throw away trash. Go back to my room to do something else, forgot I was thirsty. Go back to the kitchen, see the food again. Put away food, rinse some dishes. Pull out drink and set it on the table. Mom or Oreo wants something and I get it for them. Again walk out of the kitchen, drink still on the table. Come to make the bed, still thirsty... Took me half an hour to get a damn drink!

Escapee

I can't believe he tried it again... This time was a lil bit scarier though. Last time Oreo escaped, it was through a hole he'd slowly been working to make bigger. This time.... This time he used force. Pushed his way out or something and out he went, sending Mom and I in a panic to quickly try and retrieve him. Okay, from the beginning.....

This is the window Oreo's escaped out of twice now. The first time was through a hole in the screen (screen was replaced months ago and nailed in or so I thought). Mind you, this second escape was in the wee hours of the morning, Mom was busy getting ready for work and I was doing dishes. The blinds were closed, but I didn't close the window in time (I usually shut it before I go to bed) and he took his chance. As neither Mom nor I saw it, I can only guess he knocked the stuff off the nightstand when he jumped on or maybe when he was working at opening the screen. At any rate, the clatter of things got both our attention and then before I could grab him, he was out.

Shoes were thrown on and off I went outside and around the building. Having scared off the cat he was trying to get at.... Yep, my little baby was chasing tail, hence the thinking of him using force to escape.... Tail gone, Mom calling him from inside, and a very unhappy me running towards him, he saw the logic in jumping back inside...

He was either pissed at me for chasing off his she-Oreo (actually, it's only a guess that it's a she.. but it does look like a little Oreo) or knew he'd done wrong, cuz he wouldn't go near me for about an hour. When I offered my hand for his usual "I'm sorry for hurting you, mama" kiss, he kept turning his head.... He did eventually kiss and make up... I'm still not happy with him, but look at this face and say ya can't forgive him.

I was pretty freaked for most of that hour though.. I was shaking quite a bit. He's my baby. I don't want to lose him. I wish he could roam out on his own, but he just can't here.

I gave him other more tolerable suggestions as to how to give Mom and I heartattacks in the future. I told him he could start talking.. Just start speaking real words or maybe just reciting the alphabet, that'd freak us out but in a good way. Heck, I'll even take the "I'm a being from another wor;d/dimension sent here to observe you weirdos" story. Really, there are much nicer ways to give me a shock.

Okay, the end. Now wasn't that a nice story? K, I'ma go squeeze that brat of mine now.

I Saw CATS!!!

So, in case I didn't scream and shout all about it like I did to a certain few, my best friend took me to see CATS for my birthday. It was at Pantages theatres and we saw it on it's last showing here. I'd actually never heard any of Cats before. I mean I knew it was a musical. But I've heard of many musicals I've known nothing about.

Anywho, we left early at the suggestion of both our mothers... Yeah, we're not gonna take that advice anymore, or maybe take it only on occassion. We got there 2 hours early. Drove by a parking lot with people leaving from an earlier showing. So, we walked around looking at the stars on the walk until we found a place to eat dinner and play cards to kill time.

The show:

Now, Ranti sent Chrissi part of the soundtrack and she sent it to me, so I gotta say... I already went in loving the music. It's just so fun. And c'mon, it's about CATS! They're all dressed in these cool (and yes some funny looking) costumes. The dance numbers were amazing. I swear, dancers these days have springs in their legs! These guys musta practiced behaving like cats for months. I mean check out some of these poses:

Overall, it was a fantastic night! Near the start of the show, one of the performers grabbed a girl in the audience and danced with her in the aisle. It was funny! All the excitement leading up to the night wasn't let down.

(And cuz the Playing search never works... I'm Currently Listening to the CATS soundtrack)

My uncle took me to CATS with my cousin and I loved it, although I was apprehensive at first, since I've never been to a musical before. I wanna watch them again!! :((

ANIME!

I was going through some major anime withdrawals. I mean I wasn't like hounding people for some anime. But I was seriously missing my shows. InuYasha is so far ahead of where I left off, I'd get irritated with how much I missed. I keep hoping Cartoon Network will start the series over, but it hasn't yet. Anywho, the other night, I was bored and decided to browse the Myspace videos thing. And people were putting up various anime amv's whatever those are. Music videos out of anime shots, I guess...

Long story short, from a fansite I found InuYasha ONLINE!!! I watched the first ten episodes in my beloved English dubbed version for the very first time! I'm so excited. I think now I'll try and find my other shows on this site. In the mean time, I'm seriously thinking of adding my fave anime shows to my DVD wish list... I only watched a few, but I really liked them. InuYasha, Wolf's Rain, Case Closed, and Witch Hunter Robin.... Though Robin was ify, cuz I missed stuff.

I never did get to watch the first two anime movies I ever saw in their entirety. I don't even know their names now. This was back in the day when Sci-Fi, I think it was, showed anime every saturday morning. I don't like all anime, but the more fantasy or interesting type ones I did like. Wish they would show more unique stuff... Maybe more movies. Lately the only anime movies they show are these really old ones or Spirited Away... Don't get me wrong, I love Spirited Away... but like.... I HAVE it, I don't need to see it on TV too. The other three they show are (and here's where I butcher names cuz I'm too lazy to look it up): Princess Monoke or something like that, Nausicaa and someting, and I think it's Castle in the sky.... Oooo.. I miss Kiki's Delivery Service. That was a cute one I saw years ago.

Anywho... Just thought I'd ramble about my renewed love of anime. Didn't know I loved anime did ya? Well just to prove it... Here I am as an anime girl... It actually looks like I'd like to look, y'know if I were an anime girl.

Okay, I confess.... I used to watch Sailor Moon too.. But c'mon man, that show had some pretty songs on it! And for all it's dorkiness, it did have a really cool premise that I really wish had been developed better. I understand it got really complex at the end. Couldn't tell ya. It's been banned since the days I used to watch it. Fifth and final(?) season wasn't even aired here.

Can anyone tell me why Reboot was considered a Toonami type show? I LOVED the show, but it just didn't fit in with Toonami's usual shows, y'know? Reckon I've rambled on long enough. I really should just go to bed. But I'm loopy and you all should know that by now.
